The Vinnova and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency are offering grants to Increase Material Recycling of plastic in the construction sector – from design to recycling.
Within construction sector has great potential for increased material recycling through innovation in both public and private activities. Construction and demolition waste is identified as flows with great potential where resource-smart recycling and reuse of plastic is believed to be able to generate great environmental and economic opportunities.
Through an inter-agency collaboration it is now possible to explore through pre-study projects how sorting of plastic can be made more efficient, non-toxic material recycling and reuse can increase and demand for recycled / reused plastic can be strengthened.
The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and Vinnova want to contribute to increased, profitable and resource-smart recycling and reuse of plastics in the construction sector by funding feasibility studies that, through collaboration, have the potential to contribute to one or more of the following effects:
- Efficient sorting of plastic from the construction sector.
- Increased material recycling through circular loops for efficient use of material resources in non-toxic circular cycles.
- Increased demand for recycled / recycled plastic.
Funding Information
- The call´s budget is SEK 5 million.
- The grant will be granted with a maximum of SEK 500,000 and constitutes a maximum of 80 percent of the project´s total eligible costs.
What can you apply for?
Preliminary studies aimed at developing a system analysis and action plan for increased material recycling of plastics in the construction sector.
Eligibility Criteria
- The call is aimed at stakeholder constellations consisting of parties (legal entities) that constitute the construction sector´s systems and value networks.
- This includes industry, public activities, academia, institutes, and other relevant organizations.
