The UN Women Tunisia and the National Commission for the Fight against Terrorism are accepting a call for proposals from civil society actors which aims to strengthen the economic and social empowerment of women, girls and young people in Tunisia.
Support the integration of gender in the “National Strategy to Combat Violent Extremism and Terrorism 2023-2027” by offering training to associations, young people and defenders of gender equality to respond to indications and demonstrations violent extremist speeches. Spread messages of equality, social cohesion, peace building and prevention of violent extremism at the community level and among young people, women and girls.
Support local initiatives aimed at preventing violent extremism carried out by young women and men for young people. In 2016, the Tunisian government adopted the National Strategy to Combat Extremism and Terrorism (SNLCET), which incorporates four pillars: prevention, protection, prosecution and response.

- Young people, and more specifically young women, play an important role in promoting peace and resilience, and preventing violent extremism.
Funding Information
- The budget range for this proposal should be $55,000 – $65,000 (Min. – Max.).
Duration
- UN Women is seeking a partner to implement the project within the next 12 months.
Outcomes
- Outcome 1: Civil society work is strengthened and consolidated at the local level to meet the needs of young people in preventing violent extremism.
- Outcome 2: Tools are made available to young people to support the promotion of a peaceful community free from radicalization and violent extremism.
- Youth capacities are strengthened regarding Youth Safety (YPS), Women, Peace and Security (WPS) and the prevention of violent extremism.
Eligibility Criteria
- Functional Skills Required
- Knowledge and experience demonstrated in practice related to the subject;
- Proven skills in coordination and facilitation;
- Ability to mobilize partners to promote female leadership for resilient and peaceful communities;
- Strong skills in Arabic and French (oral and written);
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver on time
- Focus on results, flexible and equipped with problem-solving skills
- Ability to dialogue and negotiate;
- Ability to work in a complex multicultural environment;
- Have a good network of national actors on the theme;
- Have a pool of experts and trainers on the topic with proven experience in the field in Tunisia.
- Qualifications and experience required Be a national
- Non/Governmental association or organization legally registered in Tunisia, with a proven track record in promoting gender equality, youth, social cohesion and the prevention of extremism and violence; have at least 5 years of activity with a minimum of 3 years of specific experience in the promotion of gender.
- And peace, as well as the prevention of violent extremism; must demonstrate a strong track record in capacity building and discussions on gender, youth and the prevention of violent extremism.
- Strong experience in project management and implementation.

- The proposal prepared by the Bidder and all correspondence and documents relating to the proposal exchanged between the Bidder and UN Women must be written in English.
