The Nature Foundation is currently seeking applications for the Revitalising Private Conservation in South Australia: Heritage Agreements Small Grants Program.
The Revitalising Private Conservation in South Australia Program is an exciting new collaboration between the primary industries and conservation sectors. This Program will improve the management and protection of the unique native vegetation on rural properties throughout South Australia.
The Heritage Agreements Grants Program offers funding to current and aspiring owners of Heritage Agreements to plan and undertake activities on those Heritage Agreements, including the purchase of materials and services for pest plant and animal control programs, fencing, revegetation and threatened species assessments to name a few.
Objective
- The Program will work with farmers, primary producers, rural residents, Aboriginal landowners, and existing native vegetation Heritage Agreement owners to develop new Heritage Agreements with landowners, and expand the number, extent, and quality of protected vegetation management areas.
Funding Information
- Under the Program landholders will be eligible for small grants up to $10,000 to improve and protect their Heritage Agreement area.
Funding is not available for
- Activities that have the potential to have negative impacts on natural resources.
- Purchase of assets and equipment unless appropriate justification can be provided.
- Maintenance of areas outside the Heritage Agreement Area.
Eligible Activities
- Developing good conservation strategies for the Heritage Agreement area
- Management and/or action planning
- Weed control, mapping and/or identification
- Fox, rabbit or other feral animal control
- Repair of damaged areas e.g. previously cleared or eroded sites
- Internal property fencing to exclude stock from Heritage Agreement area
- Mapping of native plants or native vegetation communities
- Native animal survey (permits needed)
- Revegetation using local provenance seed from the Heritage Agreement area or nearest appropriate site
- Improving fire management for conservation purposes
- Local/minor trials of good conservation management techniques.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for funding, you must:
- Own or manage a Heritage Agreement under the Native Vegetation Act 1991 or its preceding Act.
- Have no outstanding reports or acquittals from prior Heritage Agreement Grant funding.
- Have obtained all necessary planning, regulatory or other approvals.
