The Hocking Fellowship Program is now providing opportunities for recipients to undertake an investigative project into their preferred area of interest within the field of complex mental health.

The Hocking Fellowship Program, comprised of the Hocking Fellowship and Hocking Community Award, was established in honour of the late Barbara Hocking OAM (Executive Director of SANE Australia 1995–2012), who worked tirelessly to improve the wellbeing of Australians living with complex mental health issues.

Grant Information

The 2019–2020 Program has been expanded to include two grants:

Hocking Fellowship

The Hocking Fellowship provides a grant of up to $20,000AUD to support travel (domestic and/or international) and costs for a project that explores the experiences of those living with complex mental health issues or those their carers, family and friends.

It is an opportunity to undertake a project that:

Hocking Community Award

The Hocking Community Award provides a grant of up to $10,000AUD to support a research project that focusses on addressing the needs of those caring for someone who lives with complex mental health issues – this may include: professional carers, family members, friends, colleagues, or any other person who provides care and support for somebody living with a complex mental illness.

The project must:

To be eligible for the Hocking Community Award, the proposed project must consider the ways in which carers, family and friends can best support those living with complex mental health issues, whilst also looking after themselves and their own wellbeing.
