Aurora is seeking applications from organisations committed to supporting LGBTIQ+ communities.
They provide grants to LGBTIQ+ organisations seeking funding for projects specifically targeting and supporting LGBTIQ+ people and communities.
They will accept applications from mainstream (or non LGBTIQ+ specific) organisations. However it will be important that you demonstrate that:
- The initiative you seek funding for is focused on LGBTIQ+ communities
- The initiative is led and/or substantially include those with lived experience
Ignite Pride Grants: Fostering Change, One Project at a Time
- The Ignite Pride Grants are tailored to provide a lifeline to these essential initiatives. Designed to fund small, community-driven projects, these grants are a testament to the unwavering commitment to:
- Empowerment: They empower those on the frontlines—individuals, organisations, and community groups—to bring their visions to life.
- Visibility: They champion projects that amplify the voices and stories of the LGBTIQ+ community, fostering greater awareness and understanding.
- Well-being: They support initiatives that improve mental health, ageing support, social support, education services, and other areas where funding opportunities are limited.
Funding Information
- Applications for Ignite Pride can be made for grants of up to $10,000, and up to $20,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- To apply for an Ignite Pride Grant your organisation must be a registered not-for-profit charitable organisation.
- To apply for an Ignite Pride Grant you must also have DGR-1 tax status or an auspice arrangement in order to apply.
- Auspice Arrangements for Organisations without DGR-1 status
- If your organisation does not have DGR-1 status, there may be a local not-for-profit organisation in your community that you can talk to about auspicing and working together on a project. The auspicing organisation must have DGR-1 status and be registered with the ACNC. The project needs to be managed, delivered and acquitted by the organisation that receives the grant from Aurora.
- Note: An auspice arrangement is when a larger organisation assists a smaller organisation to fund a grant activity or event. The larger organisation is known as the auspice organisation. Your community group or organisation is known as the grant recipient.
What Ignite Pride does not fund?
- Fundraising events.
- Existing and ongoing wages/positions within an organisation.
- Projects that receive substantial ongoing funding from other sources.
- Airfares, accommodation and personal expenses (travel exemptions apply for regional/remote applications where travel is essential to carry out the project).
- Advertising.
- Capital works or office equipment.
- Projects that do not align with Aurora’s vision.
- Projects that are exclusively focused on HIV/AIDS support, given there are a range of other funding streams available for such projects.
- Please note: Given the evolving nature of how they connect, they acknowledge that entertainment events can be a source of community connection and address issues of social isolation. Though they have not funded entertainment events in the past, they will consider applications for these events on a case by case basis.
