Deadline: Ongoing Opportunity
The Cairns Regional Council is seeking applications for its Industry and Economic Development Fund (IEDF) to support local collaborators and organizations with the development and delivery of innovative projects that will have industry and economic benefits to the Cairns local government area.
The purpose of the grant is to:
- Develop and grow new and existing businesses and industries
- Support export development or investment attraction
- Generate new employment opportunities.
What can the Industries and Economic Development Fund be used for?
Projects that fit the criteria of this grant are wide-ranging and varied. Grants have been awarded in the past three years to organisations like the Cairns Chamber of Commerce, Dive Queensland, Cairns Aviation Skills Centre and JUTE Theatre Company to deliver the following projects:
- Strategic planning
- Far North QLD Export Capability Profile to service the Pacific Region
- Economic Impact of the Cairns Airport Businesses on the Cairns
- Art Investment Snowball 1/9/2019 to 30/08/2020
- Promoting Cairns as the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef at a major diving equipment and marketing conference
- Develop a case for direct flights between Cairns & Lae
Funding Information
Amount: Up to $15,000 financial or in-kind assistance or a combination of the two
Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must:
- be based within the boundaries of the Cairns Regional Council area;
- be a properly constituted not-for-profit organisation that has the majority of its members living/based in the Cairns Regional Council area; and
- have a valid public liability certificate to a value considered appropriate with regard to the organisation’s operations.

and provide Council with:
- the organisation's previous two years financial statements (as submitted to the Office of Fair Trading) or the latest treasurer's report covering previous 24 months;
- evidence of the organisation’s current bank balance at the time of application;
- copy of Public Liability Certificate;
- proof of your not-for-profit organisation status;
- a three-year financial forecast; and
- details of all other external funding (e.g. Approved or application pending).
