The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Office in Equatorial Guinea organizes a national competition to solicit ideas and innovative solutions that address development problems within the framework of natural capital management.
Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises managed by young people and women, and that are operating in the private sector are the only target audience for this contest. The companies selected at the end of the competition will receive grants from UNDP for the implementation of the initiatives they present.
The objective of the contest is to provide micro-enterprises and small and medium-sized enterprises technical and financial resources that allow them to act as leaders of sustainable development and growth in activities related to economies green and blue, including job creation for women and youth.
Funding Information
- UNDP will award grants of up to $ 40,000 (21,566,714.08 XAF) to the initiatives that best meet the aforementioned criteria. This first contest is open to Equatorial Guinean nationals residing in the city of Malabo. Other contests subsequent will be extended to nationals residing in other parts of the national territory, such as Bata, Annobon and Corisco.
- The duration of the Grant is from August 1 to December 17, 2021.
Selection Criteria
- Scope – This contest is only open to companies on the Island of Bioko.
- MSMEs– 3-50 employees with capital (amount corresponding to assets) more than 1 million francs.
- Ineligible companies – Non-governmental organizations (NGOs), institutions educational, public companies, individuals with initiatives lacking statute legal.
- Understanding of the Terms of Reference – The company demonstrates through the proposed activities, on the one hand, that the green and blue economy enhances the protection of the environment and the preservation of nature and, on the other, that participates in the socioeconomic development of the country, offering opportunities to youth and women to create decent jobs for their communities and generate income for your own well-being.
- Eligibility – Proof of having been legally operating for at least one year with a copy of the financial statement of the current year or companies in the process of legally register with test documents submitted together with the project the companies of the evaluation committee members are not eligible for participate and win.
- Capacity to generate employment – Degree or form in which the proposed solution by the company could help the creation or maintenance of employment-to women and young people – directly in the company or indirectly in its environment.
- Credibility – The legal status of the company, the quality and complementarity of the team, specifically the qualifications and competencies of those responsible for the project (attaching CVs of all team members), personal contribution of the company in terms of financing or equipment, the presentation of a plan detailed action plan consistent with the use of funds.
- Sustainability – The measures envisaged for, after financing with funds from the project to support the blue and green economy, provide a viable perspective so that generate long-term resources for the company. With the possibility of replication to others areas of the country.
- Impact on the economy – Degree of generation of an impact on the country’s economy, supporting strategic activities such as: increased exports, increase in sales and production, and territorial deconcentration of investment, among other.
