Integrated English Literacy & Civics Education Program (US)

The Oklahoma Department of Career & Technology Education Adult Basic Education Division has announced the Integrated English Literacy and Civics (IELCE) Education Program to provide education services to English language learners who are adults, including professionals with degrees and credentials in their native countries that enable such adults to achieve competency in the English language and acquire the basic and more advanced skills needed to function effectively as parents, workers, and citizens in the United States.

Such services must include instruction in literacy and English language acquisition and instruction on the rights and responsibilities of citizenship and civic participation and may include workforce training.

Each IELCE participant must have the option of participating in an IET. The funds provided under section 243 of the Act must be used in combination with integrated education and training.

Eligible providers receiving funds through the Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education program must provide services that are designed to: 

Duration

The grant period will begin July 1, 2022. The award cycle for all grants will be for four years. Awards will be given for program years 2022-2023, 2023-2024, 2024-2025 and 2025-2026.

Eligible Activities

The eligible provider receiving a grant shall use the funds to establish or operate programs that provide adult education and family literacy activities, including programs that provide such activities concurrently. Below are the defined activities:
