Investing in Women (IW), an initiative of the Australian Government has announced a Call for Proposals for its Partnerships for Advocating Gender Equality (#samePAGE) program that aims to develop advocacy partnerships that help to progress women’s economic empowerment in the Philippines or Indonesia by shifting costly and harmful gender norms.
The initiative aims to develop innovative multi-stakeholder partnerships with dynamic, credible local organisations and/or networks across civil society, and the private and public sectors. Proposals should consider the benefits of an alliance or consortium approach.
Program Components
- Business partnerships – working with business leaders to promote better gender equality in their workplaces and beyond.
- Impact investing in women SMEs – creating opportunities for innovative finance mechanisms and gender lens investing by working with impact investors and the broader ecosystem to develop, test, and adopt an investment thesis that will deliver better financial and social returns.
- Government partnerships – actively engaging with Australian Government Embassies and programs to support national policy makers and regulators to remove barriers to women’s economic advancement, and working with regional bodies to advocate for change that promotes women’s economic empowerment.
- Advocacy platform – capitalizing on learning, results, networks, and partnerships to build awareness and understanding of the importance of women’s economic empowerment and practical means to make progress.
Grant Information
- Funding will be negotiated on a case by case basis, ranging from AUD 25,000 to AUD 250 000.
- There is AUD 425 000 available each for Indonesia and the Philippines, which will be reallocated if quality proposals are not identified.
Eligibility Criteria
- Funding is available for advocacy that targets young women and men in urban areas in the Philippines and Indonesia, and supports a positive public discourse on the benefits of women’s economic empowerment.
- The initiative is seeking to support advocacy activities that normalise women’s economic role over their life course and men’s role at home, as well as empowering girls for the future of work and their participation in future growth industries.
- To be eligible for funding the applicant organisations must meet the following requirements:
- Be committed to gender equality and women’s economic empowerment, including ensuring gender diversity in their organisations and leadership.
- Have in place sound governance arrangements, including procurement, financial management, and fraud policies and systems.
- Be legally registered.
