Invitation for Grant Proposals to tackle Food Insecurity in the US

WUR Course: Feeding Cities to improve Food Systems in Urban Areas

Deadline: 14-May-21

The Gerner Family Charitable Fund is pleased to announce a grant opportunity for promising initiatives focused on reducing food insecurity in the following counties of South Carolina: Greenville and Spartanburg.

They believe that everyone deserves equal and affordable access to nutritious food and wish to support an organization that can address this need.

The Gerner Family Charitable Gift Fund’s mission is to fund and support nonprofit programs that directly improve the health, education, and welfare of our communities. They want to ensure that our contributions affect meaningful change and material differences in people’s lives.

Project proposals must be focused on and result in reducing food insecurity and should aim to improve production, availability, affordability, and/or consumption of nutritious foods.

These efforts should particularly target underserved populations including people experiencing homelessness, low-income families, people living in food deserts, single-parent households, minorities, and people who have been negatively impacted by COVID-19.
