IRD’s Guyamazon Program: Supporting the Development of Joint Projects Coordinated by Researchers of French Guinea in Partnership with their Brazilian Counterparts

The French Embassy in Brazil, the French Research Institute for Development (IRD), the Territorial Collectivity of Guyana, CIRAD and the CNRS, together with the research support foundations of Brazilian states of Amazonas (FAPEAM), Amapá (FAPEAP) The Maranhão (FAPEMA) and the Pará (FAPESPA), are launching the 4th Call for projects to support the development of joint projects coordinated by researchers (teacher-researchers) belonging to educational, research and innovation institutions French, primarily located in the French Guiana region, in partnership with their Brazilian counterparts.

The main objective of the Guyamazon program is to promote the emergence of cross-border research, capacity-building and innovation projects on scientific themes linked to the challenges of sustainable development in Amazonian territories: Amazonian biodiversity, terrestrial and forest ecosystems, Aquatic inland and marine ecosystems, environment and health, renewable energies, family farming, human and social sciences, heritage and archeology.

The 4th Call for projects is in line with the precedents, while emphasizing the emergence of new research collaborations and the creation of bilateral scientific networks, focusing on the priority themes common to the states and regions of the Amazon.

Proposals should address the issues of sustainable development of the Amazon biome and the themes related to biodiversity and the development of territories or issues characteristic of them.
