Deadline: 27-Aug-21
The Initiative Sankofa d’Afrique De l’Ouest (ISDAO) is offering ASANKA Fund – Creative Initiatives to support, through the provision of grants, innovative creative activism developed and carried out by LGBTQI groups/organizations in the West African region as well as by individual West African LGBTQI activists living in the region and in the diaspora.
For the purposes of this support grant, creative initiatives are those that are other than initiatives typically included in traditional forms of activism. This includes, but is not limited to, all initiatives in this spirit undertaken by LGBTQI groups/organizations or individual LGBTQI activists in support of LGBTQI Activism in at least one of ISDAO’s focal countries. This could be, for example, the production of a mini-documentary, the editing of a book, a comic book, the creation of a web radio station, a photo project, etc.
In general, ISDAO encourages innovative strategies for advocacy, mobilization, and movement building, including strategies for changing narratives through art, literature, video, photography, choreography, etc.
Funding Information
ISDAO grants for the Asanka Pilot Fund range from $3,000 to $5,000 for a period of one year, depending on the proposed creative project. It should be noted that the final grant amount awarded may differ from the amount originally requested.
