Kaleidoscope Trust has launched a series of small advocacy grants available to civil society organisations in the Eastern Caribbean working towards positive change in social norms, laws and policies on women and girls’ equality and LGBT+ inclusion.
The grants form part of the Commonwealth Equality Project (CEP), a new programme co-led by Kaleidoscope Trust and Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WfD) to fight discrimination against women and girls, LGBT+ people and other intersectionally disadvantaged groups in a selection of Commonwealth countries. The programme, funded by the UK Government, seeks to strengthen civil society organisation’s capacities and alliances to advocate on gender and LGBT+ inclusion matters and change social norms.
The grants are open to organisations working in and across Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and can fund capacity building, and outreach and advocacy activities by civil society organisations between January and March 2021.
Funding Priorities
This Call for Proposals will prioritize applications focusing on the following areas of work:
- Political participation and engagement of LGBT+ people, women and girls.
- Intersectional movement and alliance building.
- Legal Reform.
- Citizen Security.
- Education and sensitization.
- Organizational capacity building.
Funding Information
- A total of £45,000 is available for funding proposals between £3,000 and £10,000.
- The time period for implementation of the small grant is approximately three (3) months, running from 1st January to 28th March 2021.
- Budget will be disbursed in one or two transfers.
Eligibility Criteria
CSOs/NGOs/CBOs from Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are eligible to apply for the grants. Interested CSOs/NGOs/CBOs must meet the following criteria to be eligible for selection:
- Organization’s mandate and the founding document should be in line with the activities for which the fund is being sought.
- Have a focus on LGBT+ and/or Women and Girls (WAG) work.
- Have demonstrable experience delivering projects of similar nature and size.
- It is possible for a coalition of NGO’s to present a proposal. In such a case, a letter is to be signed by each organization part of the joint proposal stating willingness to participate in such venture and attached to the proposal. In the case of joint ventures, at least one of the CSO/NGO/CBOs must be an LGBT+ organization.
- Commit to deliver the proposed intervention between the 1st January and the 28th March 2021.
- In the likely event that a large amount of proposals is received, priority will be given to proposals that are intersectional in nature and seek to establish practices/tools/solutions that can live beyond the project’s lifetime and/or focusing on developing capacities to carry out long-term work for the benefit of LGBT+ people, women and girls in the organizations’ community/country.
