The call for curatorship is part of the Support for the Creation of the ”la Caixa” Foundation program to promote the emerging curatorship.
Curator call for applications is a two-yearly programme involving three exhibition projects based on items from the Contemporary Art Collection ”la Caixa” and the MACBA collections. They are committed to innovative projects, both in terms of interpretations and reflections and also regarding the creative approach and forms used.
The exhibitions will be included in the annual programming of Caixa Forum Barcelona and there is also the possibility of them becoming travelling exhibitions, as well as potential collaborations with other institutions. The exhibitions may also include work by young artists embarking on their careers as a complement to items from the ”la Caixa” Collection, provided these works already exist and do not form part of another institution’s collection.
The call for Curatorships is intended for art curators under the age of 40, with Spanish or Portuguese nationality or residence, who have previously curated a minimum of three exhibitions. Curators with a consolidated professional career will be discarded.
Funding Information
The three curators selected will receive a grant of 6,000 euros and will benefit from the resources and advice of the exhibitions team from the ”la Caixa” Foundation.
Duration
Each project will be developed over a period of four months. During the first month, curators will have access to the Collection and to the teams from the ”la Caixa” Foundation and MACBA in order to define the project, while all the work to prepare the exhibition will be carried out in the following three months.
Eligibility Criteria
Participants must gather the following requirements:
- Be between 23 and 40 years old and be Spanish or Portuguese nationality, or have Spanish or Portuguese residence accredited.
- Have curated a minimum of three exhibitions. The valuation of candidates will be made from the analysis of your professional resume so that Commissioners who have a professional career consolidated or with a recognized name in national and international circuits.
- Present individually or collectively
The following will be excluded from the call:
- Participants who do not present the documentation indicated, in the order and required extension and in a single shipment.
- Participants who have valid, at the time of submitting the application, a collaboration agreement with the Fundación Bancaria ”la Caixa” in any another call.
- Participants who fail any of the requirements stated above.
