The Levi Lassen Foundation has announced a call for proposals for its Grant Program to support a shared society in Israel. The foundation believes in an Israel where everyone participates in a shared and just society, predicated on the best values of equality, tolerance and social justice in a liberal democracy.
Levi Lassen’s work in Israel began over 40 years ago. Levi Lassen is committed to helping Israel develop, grow and prosper through supporting programs committed to promoting a shared society.
The Levi Lassen Foundation focuses on philanthropy in Israel that, according to The Declaration of Establishment of the State of Israel:
- will foster the development of the country for the benefit of all its inhabitants;
- will be based on freedom, justice and peace as envisaged by the prophets of Israel;
- will ensure complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex;
- will guarantee freedom of religion, conscience, language, education and culture;
They prefer hands-on projects that clearly advance the goal of a shared Israeli society.
Funding Information
- Levi Lassen Foundation grants are up to 20,000 Euros a year and are given for a period of one year. Grantees may apply for a renewal grant.
- However, an applicant whose request has been rejected must wait 2 years from the time of the last rejection before reapplying.
The Foundation does not, as a rule, fund the following:
- Individuals (including scholarships, food and equipment distribution to individuals)
- Projects that have an economic/business/employment related objective
- Projects with a political agenda and advocacy work
- Pure arts (e.g., music, dance, vocal, theatre, films, drawing, sculpture)
- Formal education
- Hospitals, medical treatment or equipment
- Individuals with special needs
- Religious activity
- Academic research
- Universities and colleges
- Construction and renovation costs
- Municipalities and schools
- Trauma, post trauma, rehabilitation and emergencies
- Projects where the activity undertaken is clearly the responsibility of the government
Eligibility Criteria
The Levi Lassen Foundation will consider funding applications from NGO’s and projects that fulfill the following criteria:
- NGOs focused on and committed to a shared Israeli society, that run specific programs where people from different “tribes”, backgrounds and/or beliefs work together to advance joint living, inclusion, discourse, cooperation, mutual understanding and tolerance and/or combat polarization, racism, discrimination, hatred, prejudice and division.
- The project must have at least two sectors (“tribes”) doing something together.
- The project must have synergy with the overall vision and mission of the NGO.
- The project (not necessarily the NGO) must be of grassroots nature.
- The project must have a down to earth impact and make a difference.
- The primary target population must be 18 and above.
- Projects that have an economic/business/employment related objective will not be considered.
- NGOs must be able to demonstrate a stable, effective, creative and well-run organization, a sound financial status, and Nihul Takin. Startup NGOs may also apply without Nihul Takin.
