The Lowe’s Foundation Gable Grants Program is now open for applications.
The Lowe’s Foundation Gable Grants program is a 5-year, $50 million commitment to train 50,000 job-ready skilled tradespeople to build a stronger infrastructure that supports the communities for the long term. From 2023-2028, community and technical colleges and community-based nonprofit organizations across the country can apply for grants to recruit, train and employ the future skilled trades workforce with an emphasis on under-represented communities.
Funding Information
- Grant awards are needs-based and range between $100,000 and $1,000,000.
- The grant period is 24 months. Your program or initiative must start the following semester, program term, or student enrollment period. All funds must be used during the 2-year grant period.
Eligibility Criteria
- Organizations applying for Lowe’s Foundation Gable Grants must meet the following criteria:
- Currently offer sustainable, scalable skilled trades education programs for postsecondary aged adults with an emphasis on appliance repair, carpentry/construction, electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and/or plumbing.
- Qualify as a community based nonprofit organization or community and technical college in the United States as follows:
- Community-Based Nonprofit Organization: A nonprofit organization with tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or recognized government entity: state, county, or city agency, including law enforcement departments.
- Community & Technical Colleges: A community or technical college that is a public institution of higher education as defined in Section 101(a) of the Higher Education Act, and at which the associate degree is primarily the highest degree awarded. Must also be accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency or association that has been recognized by the United States Department of Education over the course of the grant. Foundations that raise private funds on behalf of community and technical colleges are eligible to apply during this cycle.
- As part of their educational and/or support programs, serve one or more underrepresented communities as follows:
- Women
- People of color
- Rural areas
- Individuals who are justice-involved and/or participating in second chance programs
Ineligible
- Individuals
- Organizations that discriminate, including but not limited to, on the basis of race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnic origin, country of origin, citizenship, veteran or disability status
- Religious organizations, unless they are engaged in programs that are non-sectarian, benefit a broad base of the community and have a separate 501(c)(3) designation
- Political action committees, candidates, causes and lobbying
- Labor, alumni, or fraternal groups
- Recreation, athletic or sports teams, programs, or leagues
- For-profit entities, including start-up small businesses
- Endowment funds
