The M∙A∙C AIDS Fund (MAF) is seeking applications for its Canadian Grant Program to support services that improve the health and well-being of Canadians living with or at risk of HIV/AIDS.
MAF supports programs and strategies to address the social determinants of health among people living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS including, but not limited to: poverty, housing, food security, access to care and treatment, and stigma and discrimination. MAF also encourages programs that address systemic issues, including strategies to improve public and legal policy, improve funding for needed services, reduce barriers to access to “mainstream” services, and improve public attitudes.
Primary Areas
MAF funds in three primary areas:
- BASIC NEEDS: Helping people live longer and healthier lives by supporting food and nutrition, housing, and other poverty-based direct services for people living with HIV.
- TREATMENT: Enhancing access to life-saving treatment and care by increasing treatment access, improving retention in care, supporting test-and-treat strategies, and policy/advocacy related to these issues.
- PREVENTION: Reducing new infections, including behavior-based prevention, biomedical prevention, harm reduction, and policy/advocacy related to these issues
Funding Information
Applicants may apply for a 12-month grant of up to CAD$40,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Nonprofit organizations in Canada that are registered as charitable organizations with the Canada Revenue Agency provide services to those affected by HIV/AIDS, and have been in operation for a minimum of three years.
- Organizations must also have a nondiscrimination policy that includes sexual orientation and specifically protects LGBTQ clients.
