National Maritime Heritage – Education Grants Program in the US

The National Park Service is inviting applications for the National Maritime Heritage Grants Program to provide funding for education projects designed to preserve historic maritime resources and to increase public awareness and appreciation for the maritime heritage of the United States.

This grant program is funded through the proceeds of the sale or scrapping of obsolete vessels of the National Defense Reserve Fleet. Grants are administered in partnership with the U.S. Department of Transportation, Maritime Administration (MarAd).

The program provides funds for prime awardees (grantees) to administer and run competitive subgrant programs and to complete “in house” projects involving historic marine resources.

All funded activities must advance maritime heritage through public education for a wide audience on America’s maritime heritage in addition to at least one of the following ways:
