NIH’s Gabriella Miller Kids First Pediatric Research Program: Discovery of the Genetic Basis of Childhood Cancers and of Structural Birth Defects in the US

In response to The Gabriella Miller Kids First Research Act, NIH, through the Common Fund, has established the Gabriella Miller Kids First Pediatric Research Program (Kids First). The Kids First program is expected to be a ten-year effort (2015 – 2024) that will build the Gabriella Miller Kids First Pediatric Data Resource (Kids First Data Resource).

This program is intended to identify samples for genome sequencing that will help elucidate genetic contribution to childhood cancers and the etiology of structural birth defects.
