NOFO: Reconciling the Past- The Power of Art to Heal (India)

The U.S. Consulate General Chennai and the Bureau of South and Central Asiaof the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a project entitled “Reconciling the Past: The Power of the Arts to Heal.”

The proposed project will support the production and showcasing of an exhibit allowing key Indian audiences to explore the American experience and examine how cultural institutions and artists can provide context and space for social debates that can help communities to come to terms with the complexities of their past.

Project Goal: Indian community leaders and art communicators will have a better understanding of how museums and other cultural institutions in the United States play a pivotal role in shaping the U.S. national identity and address issues inclusive of social conflict, inclusion, and cohesion, and they will collectively learn, reflect, and reconcile historically controversial social issues and conflicts.
