Nominations are open for the Asia Pacific Procurement Awards attracts entries from the most influential companies looking to gain recognition and benchmark their performance and projects across different categories.
Asia Pacific has a unique set of challenges. But these issues are also opportunities to contribute to procurement’s more pivotal role in the business. The Asia Pacific Procurement Awards showcases procurement excellence in the region. The awards celebrate the initiatives, teams and people that are raising the benchmark for procurement excellence in Asia Pacific.
All entries will be reviewed by a prestigious judging panel which includes senior procurement leaders from CBRE, Dyson, Mondelez International, eBay, National Australia Bank, to name a few. Finalists are then celebrated in September, and winners announced at an afternoon awards ceremony following the Asia Pacific Procurement Congress on 27-28 November in Singapore.
Categories
- Cross-Functional Collaboration Award, Partnered by Greensill:
- Collaboration with the wider business is crucial if procurement is to make a significant impact; whether that be with finance, product development, operations or marketing or another key business function.
- This category will recognise a project or initiative which has collaborated with another function or group of functions at its core and that has delivered tangible commercial benefits.
- External Collaboration Award, Partnered by MarkIT: Procurement is in an excellent position to take advantage of the capabilities that exist in the supply base, and by collaborating with suppliers or other third parties can help both parties to succeed.
- Procurement Excellence Award: Procurement excellence can be defined as when procurement:
- Delivers tangible results to the bottom and top line of the business; in terms of cost, risk and value creation
- Is a strategic business function with support of the management board
- Has key relationships with business stakeholders and is involved in strategic decisions at an early stage
- Brings continual improvement to the function and innovation from the supply base
- Acts in a responsible and fair manner
- Procurement Leader Award: This category recognises the team that has worked together to achieve a significant goal. The team will have demonstrated initiative, creativity, and drive to be a positive force for change and improvement in their business.
- Procurement Team Award: This category recognises the team that has worked together to achieve a significant goal. The team will have demonstrated initiative, creativity, and drive to be a positive force for change and improvement in their business.
- Transformation Award: This award will reward those organisations that have achieved great things through a significant transformation whether that’s improving the quality of an under-performing function or taking an already high-performing organisation to the next level.
- Innovation Award: Innovation is a popular word which is easily over-used, but in the context of these awards judges will be looking for how procurement organisations have succeeded in one or both of the following two scenarios:
- Employed innovative new approaches or processes within the procurement function to achieve great results.
- Helped to develop a new product or service functionality/value through the use of recognised procurement levers.
- Corporate Social Responsibility Award: With influence over thousands, sometimes tens of thousands of suppliers, this award will recognise the procurement function that has used that influence for a positive effect, while remaining financially responsible.
- Solution Provider of the Year Award: The solution provider and the work they do to help procurement teams attain their goals is vital to the overall achievement and development of the procurement profession.
Eligibility Criteria
- Awards categories are open to all corporate procurement functions of any size of team or business from the Asia-Pacific region. This also includes countries in the Middle-East and Australasia.
- Entries may be submitted by the corporate procurement function, marketing department or any other third party organisation including PR agencies and service/solution providers. It will be the name of the corporate procurement function and their submitted project, person or business that will be noted on the shortlist, winners’ announcement, trophies and any printed or online material.
- The Solution Provider of the Year Award is open to businesses that provide a service to the procurement function, for example; consultancies, BPO and other outsourcing providers, procurement technology and cloud services, procurement recruiters and executive search businesses, training providers, marketing intelligence and risk management, supply chain financing and management, legal, corporate banking and credit providers and any other similar procurement solutions business.
- The ‘External collaboration award’ is designed to recognise collaborations between a corporate procurement function and an external business or businesses. If applicant are a solution provider intending to enter one of their clients, please note they will only be able to profile their client’s name on shortlist and other printed and digital material.
- Criteria within each category are designed to recognise projects or initiatives completed within specific time frames. As a guideline theyask companies to focus on submitting projects and initiatives that have been undertaken in the past year. If applicant have any doubts, please speak to the awards team. They do however recognise that some may have started earlier than this and are yet to be completed and therefore they can be flexible with this rule. The entrant must demonstrate that the evidence provided in support of the entry is during the above mentioned time frames.
- Confidentiality within the entry and judging system is considered the most important feature of the awards programme. Procurement Leaders guarantee the security and confidentiality of the information provided within the entry. Only the Asia Pacific Procurement Awards management team and judges are permitted to view the entries and information.
- The judges are recruited based on their experience within the procurement function and are asked to give up much of their time to review the entries provided. All judges are asked to declare any conflict of interest within the categories they are asked to judge. Judges are also asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement before they can access the entries. This is to guarantee the confidentiality of the information within the entry. The awards team are also able to sign any non-disclosure agreement with a participant to guarantee the confidentiality of information contained within an entry. None of the information provided by an entrant will be passed to any third party outside the awards team and judging panel. However, should their entry be successful, they will write about it on the Winners Supplement, which is given to awards attendees and will also be available on the awards website. They ensure no sensitive data, nor business partners names are mentioned in this description. Should applicant be concerned about any particular details within applicants entry, please do let a member of the team know.
- Categories are available for sponsorship. Sponsors will be considered event partners. Any companies associated with the event or category partnership have no access nor influence over entries, shortlisting, judging or winners.
- They understand that projects may be applicable across multiple categories. However, to ensure that the entries remain focused and thought-provoking for their judges, they recommend applicants avoid duplicating submissions.
