Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) is seeking applications for its grant scheme “Enterprise Development for Jobs” to support private sector development in developing countries.
The main objective is to contribute to job creation by stimulating to more, sustainable commercial investments. In addition, it aims to stimulate renewable energy projects that increase access to renewable energy and thereby contribute to job creation and poverty reduction.
Grants may be provided in connection with project development that leads to job creation and investments. The grant scheme may fund activities related to the preparatory phase of an investment.
Grant Information
- The minimum grant size is NOK 500.000.
- This call is for projects (activities) that can start implementation during 2018 or the first half of 2019.
Priority Sectors
- Energy, defined as:
- renewable energy and
- local suppliers of goods and services related to the oil and gas sector
- Agriculture, including agro-processing
- Fish and marine resources
- Maritime sector
- Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
Focus Countries
- Funding will be prioritized to projects in the eight focus countries for Private Sector Development, as defined in White paper nr 17 (2017-2018): Ethiopia, Colombia, Ghana, Indonesia, Malawi, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Tanzania.
- Projects in other developing countries eligible for Norwegian development assistance will also be considered. Among these, projects in low-income countries will be given priority.
Eligibility Criteria
Potential grant recipients are Norwegian and foreign private sector companies with ability to create new private sector jobs, or companies (producers) that can demonstrate ability to increase access to renewable energy in developing countries.
