The Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs of the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a project to assess and quantify the environmental impacts of criminal organizations’ activities in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).

Project Goal and Objectives

To enhance regional access to knowledge regarding crimes that affect the environment; to increase INL/WHP’s understanding of the threat picture with on-demand data and general understanding of these crimes including hot-spots susceptible to crimes that affect the environment and an overall of the environmental impact; and furnish INL/WHP with best practices and recommendation to build partners’ capacity to address these crimes with applicable interventions, relevant agencies,model legislation, and training and technical assistance frameworks.

The general public of the respective countries where programming is deployed

Priority Region/Countries: Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). Preference will be given to applicants who apply to work on all four sub-regions: Mexico, Central America, Caribbean, and South America. All assistance is coordinated and subject to INL approval in accordance with U.S. government policy. Applicants are encouraged to design project activities to encompass the largest number of countries practical but must include staff or activities based in Panama.
