The Auckland Council is seeking applications for the Ōrākei Quick Response and Tree Protection Grant Programme.
Priorities
- They welcome grant applications that align to the following priorities:
- Neighbourhoods, community centres and public places are safe and attractive.
- Public art and local heritage is supported by the community.
- The people benefit from a number of community events.
- The natural environment is valued, protected and enhanced by the communities.
- The natural areas are restored and enhanced for present and future generations.
- More of the community participates in environmental enhancement projects.
- The health of the waterways is improved.
- They have a thriving economy that supports local businesses and town centres.
- Local and overseas visitors are attracted to the area.
- They meet the varied recreational needs of the diverse community.
- Activities are led by the community, and they encourage people from all walks of life to actively participate in their community.
- Lower priority for eligibility
- Commercial entities and promotion of commercial entities.
- Ticketed events.
- Catering.
- Operational costs, including wages and salaries except where professional services is required beyond the expertise of the applicant, i.e. planning and engineering fees.
- Activities or events that primarily benefit communities outside the Ōrākei area.
- Projects and activities in schools that do not demonstrate wider community benefits.

- Grant value: $500 – $3000
Types of projects funded by the grant
Outcomes
The grants programme will aim to provide contestable grants to local communities such as:
- residents associations
- business associations
- friends of groups
- all other community groups and individuals doing projects for the community.
Eligibility Criteria
- community organisations with a formal legal structure
- groups or individuals with no formal legal structure can apply for up to $1,000 (Kaipatiki Local Board will not fund individuals)
- applicants seeking funding over $1,000 will need to nominate an umbrella organisation or
- receive funding retrospectively.
Ineligible
They will not fund:
- applications for liquor licenses
- private entertainment
- purchase of vehicles (they may also decline other significant asset purchases)
- past grant recipients who have not provided accountability reports
- catering
- travel expenses
- the same project or activity more than once in a financial year.
