The Southern Africa Litigation Centre (SALC) is excited to announce its open call to support emerging Disability led civil society organisations (CSOs) in Southern Africa through organisational development grants.
This open call for concept notes seeks to address the impact of Covid-19 on social justice organisations in the region.
Focus Areas
This call focuses on community-based organisations that:
- Promote the rights of persons with disabilities;
- Challenge discrimination against persons with disabilities through advocacy and legal empowerment; and/or
- Seek to improve the interaction between persons with intellectual and psychosocial disabilities and the criminal justice system
Funding Information
The maximum grant amount is USD20 000 for a year.
Eligible Countries
This Open Call is an invitation to disability led CSOs in the following countries to submit concept notes: Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana and Zimbabwe.
Eligibility Criteria
- Grassroots organisations, representative of the communities they serve.
- Organisations with an annual income of not more than USD100 000.
- Organisations should have been in operation for not less than 3 years.
- Evidence of community work and impact.
- The entities must be directly responsible for the management of the grant. Partnerships with other NGOs are allowed based on the principle that the leading applicant takes full responsibility for grant implementation and management.
Exclusions
The South African Litigation Centre will not fund:
- Individuals representing personal interests that does not benefit the greater community;
- Activities that are targeted at building the capacity of government officials and/or the private sector;
- Faith-based organisations;
- Academic study.
