The Office on Violence Against Women (OVW), U.S. Department of Justice, is currently seeking applications for its program “Reduce Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, and Stalking on Campus Program” to encourage a comprehensive coordinated community approach that enhances victim safety, provides services for victims and supports efforts to hold offenders accountable.
Priority Areas
- Strengthen coordinated community response and multi-disciplinary teams for community colleges.
- Meaningfully increase access to OVW programming for specific underserved populations.
Funding Information
Funding levels under the Campus Program for FY 2017 are as follows:
- Individual Projects (as defined under subtypes): up to $300,000
- Consortia Projects (as defined under subtypes):
- Two to Four institutions: up to $550,000,
- Five or more institutions: up to $750,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Private institutions of higher education
- Public and State controlled institutions of higher education
- Institutions of higher education as defined under the Higher Education Amendments of 1998, 20 U.S.C. § 1001, which provides that the term “institution of higher education” means an educational institution in any state8 that:
- admits as regular students only persons having a certificate of graduation from a school providing secondary education, or the recognized equivalent of such a certificate; or students who have completed a secondary school education in a home school setting that is treated as a home school or private school under state law;
- is legally authorized within such state to provide a program of education beyond secondary education
- provides an educational program for which the institution awards a bachelor’s degree or provides not less than a 2-year program that is acceptable for full credit toward such a degree, or awards a degree that is acceptable for admission to a graduate or professional degree program, subject to review and approval by the Secretary of Education
- is a public or other nonprofit institution
- is accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency or association, or if not so accredited, is an institution that has been granted preaccreditation status by such an agency or association that has been recognized by the Secretary of Education for the granting of preaccreditation status, and the Secretary of Education has determined that there is satisfactory assurance that the institution will meet the accreditation standards of such an agency or association within a reasonable time
- Any nonprofit organization that holds money in offshore accounts for the purpose of avoiding paying the tax described in section 511(a) of the Internal Revenue Code is not eligible for a grant from the Campus Program.
