The U.S. Embassy Mozambique Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Department of State is pleased to announce that funding is available through its Public Diplomacy Small Grants Program.
Purpose of Small Grants
PAS Mozambique invites proposals for programs that strengthen cultural ties between the United States and Mozambique through cultural and exchange programming that highlights shared values and promotes bilateral cooperation. All programs must include an American cultural element, or connection with an American expert, organization, or institution in a specific field that will promote increased understanding of U.S. policy and perspectives.
Examples of PAS Small Grants Program programs include, but are not limited to:
- Academic and professional lectures, seminars, and speaker programs;
- Artistic and cultural workshops, joint performances, and exhibitions;
- Cultural exchange.
Priority Areas
- Countering Violent Extremism: Fostering community resilience to terrorism and violent extremism in Mozambique.
- English language: Increasing access to English learning.
- Women’s empowerment: Providing established and emerging female leaders with the tools needed to advance community needs.
- Entrepreneurship: Promoting good business practices and providing business training for young entrepreneurs.
Funding Information
- Length of performance period: 06 to 12 months
- Maximum number of awards anticipated: 05 awards (dependent on availability of funds)
- Award amounts: Each award may range from a minimum of $5,000.00 to a maximum of $50,000.00
Eligibility Criteria
The Public Affairs Section encourages applications from U.S. and Non-U. S Entities:
- Registered not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society/nongovernmental organizations with programming experience;
- Non-profit or governmental educational institutions;
- Governmental institutions.
Ineligible
The following types of programs are not eligible for funding:
- Programs relating to partisan political activity;
- Charitable or development activities;
- Construction programs;
- Programs that support specific religious activities;
- Fund-raising campaigns;
- Lobbying for specific legislation or programs;
- Scientific research;
- Programs intended primarily for the growth or institutional development of the organization; or
- Programs that duplicate existing programs
