POISE Foundation provides small grants to nonprofit organizations located in the Pittsburgh Region that provide services to the African American community.
Priorities
- Strengthening Black Families: Programs that create spaces and opportunities for Black families to build authentic relationships, increase communication and promote positive family interactions.
- Community & Economic Development: Programs that support community and economic development in the Pittsburgh Region’s African American community.
- Entrepreneurial Activities: Programs that advance business creation in the Pittsburgh Region’s African American community.
- Young Ladies: Programs that help young ladies prepare for a better future in the African American community.
- Education: Programs that support the educational achievement of African American youth in the Pittsburgh Region.
Funding Information
The average grant size is $5,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Only organizations that are considered charitable organizations as determined by the IRS internal revenue code 501(c) (3) are eligible for grants from the Foundation. They do not give grants to individuals or for-profit organizations.
- Preference will be given to organizations that are African American led meeting two of the three following criteria:
- Executive Director is African American
- 50% of Board is African American
- 75% of community served is African American
