Programs Benefiting Refugees and Vulnerable Populations in Burkina Faso, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, and Senegal

Major Organizations: Operating Grant Program in Canada

Deadline: 18 May 2020

The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Population Refugees and Migration (PRM) has announced a 2020 Notice of Funding Opportunity for NGO Programs Benefiting Refugees and Vulnerable Populations in Burkina Faso, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, and Senegal.

Proposed activities should support refugee populations and host communities in Burkina Faso, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, and refugee returnee populations in Senegal. Because of PRM’s mandate to provide protection, assistance, and sustainable solutions for refugees and victims of conflict, PRM will consider funding only those programs that include a target beneficiary base of at least 50 percent refugees in Burkina Faso, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria or refugee returnees in Senegal, and in the sectors outlined in the country-specific guidelines below.

Programs in non-camp areas should pursue a community-based approach that also benefits host communities. It is strongly encouraged that projects mainstream protection, in particular gender-based violence (GBV) risk mitigation, across proposed sectors and activities. Proposals may include host government capacity building as an aspect that supports other refugee assistance/protection activities. PRM strongly recommends submitting multiyear proposals for multiyear activities that build on previous year activities.
