The Brimbank City Council (BCC) is seeking applications for its Recovery, Establishment, Festivals or Events Grants to provide financial support to not-for-profit organisations and community groups.
These grants assist the community to deliver projects, events and recovery solutions needed to respond to COVID-19 challenges to help make Brimbank stronger.
Objectives
The program is designed to support local community groups and organisations impacted by the pandemic to continue operations and deliver activities, projects or events that focus on one or more of the following objectives:
- Building community connections, reducing social isolation, promoting community participation and healthy relationships, and/or improving social and mental health of community members.
- Assisting community groups and organisations to continue operations by adapting the way activities and programs are delivered through online forums or improving digital skills and access to online communication channels.
- Providing opportunities for people to continue volunteering in the community while maintaining physical distancing requirements.
- Promoting Brimbank’s culture and diversity, healthy lifestyles, intergenerational connections, and sense of belonging.
- Supporting the community to access and share information, and providing education and employment pathways.
Categories
There are five Community Recovery Grants categories:
- Recovery Grants (max. $10,000)
- Establishment Grants (max. $1,000)
- Community Festival and Event Grants (max. $10,000)
- Major Festival and Event Grants (max. $25,000)
- Youth Support Grants (max. $ 15,000)
Expected Outcomes
Projects, activities, events or festivals that contribute to increased:
- Community connections, participation and healthy relationships, and/or improved social and mental health of community members
- Number of online programs or activities for access by community members.
- Volunteering opportunities within the community
- Number of activities that promote culture and diversity, healthy lifestyles, intergenerational connections, and sense of belonging
- Number of activities that support the community to access and share information, and activities that improve community members’ prospect of obtaining suitable paid work such as job ready skills training, making direct contact with prospective employers, etc.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Recovery, Establishment, Festivals or Events Grants, you must:
- Be a not-for-profit incorporated organisation, or community organisation, or apply through an auspice arrangement
- Have Public Liability Insurance cover for the duration of the project, unless applying for an Establishment Grant
- Have an Australian Business Number (ABN), unless applying for an Establishment Grant
- Be able to demonstrate direct impact as a result of COVID-19
- Be based in Brimbank, or demonstrate that the proposed project will substantially benefit Brimbank residents.
- Have satisfactorily acquitted previous grants funded under the Brimbank Council’s Community Grants Program
- Grant recipients funded under the 2019/2020 Brimbank Community Grants program and the 2020/2021 Brimbank Community Grants Program Stage 1 and Stage 2. Please note: if successful, the grant funding will be made available after satisfactorily acquitting the previous grant
- Be able to comply with State Government COVID-19 regulations
- Speak with a Council Officer before applying for a grant.
