NextCycle Michigan’s Recycling Innovation & Technology Challenge track is seeking teams with novel material recovery or sorting technologies, recycled content projects, waste minimization techniques, new uses for recycled or organic materials, or other innovations in sustainable materials management.
The Recycling Innovation & Technology (RIT) teams are challenged to create novel material recovery or sorting technologies, recycled content products, waste minimization techniques, new uses for recycled or organic materials, or other innovations in sustainable materials management.
Selected teams will participate in a six-month program, meeting virtually and in person, individually and in groups, to accelerate their projects to investment and implementation ready status.

Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible teams can be made up of businesses, entrepreneurs, universities, tribal entities, and non-profits with investable project ideas.
- Out-of-state organizations can apply; however, the project must be implemented in Michigan or directly recover Michigan materials.
- Projects must demonstrate a measurable and/or scalable impact by utilizing a novel technology or process to divert, recover, reuse, recycle, or remanufacture Michigan materials.
- NextCycle Michigan aims to be inclusive in its engagement, valuing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Minority and women-owned small businesses are encouraged to apply
