The Region of Waterloo is seeking applications for the Economic Development Grant.
The Economic Development Grant – Entrepreneurial Initiatives grant criteria is rooted in the principles and priorities set out by both the Region of Waterloo’s Corporate Strategic Plan and the Waterloo Region Economic Development Strategy (WREDS).

- Steward the natural environment and shared resources as they grow
- As they grow, they will support a healthy environment where communities can thrive. Through intentional collaboration and creativity, they will support sustainable community growth.
- Equitable services and opportunities
- Through collaboration and innovative design, they will provide equitable, accessible services across Waterloo Region that support the social determinants of health, safety and complete communities as they grow.

- Design equitable Regional services that meet local community needs
- Explore new models of service through community collaboration and partnerships
- Through collaboration and innovative design, they will provide equitable, accessible services across Waterloo Region that support the social determinants of health, safety and complete communities as they grow.

Objectives
- Grants for organizations and networks will be prioritized based on their commitment to, and demonstrated accomplishment of, one or more of the following objectives:
- Promotes a diverse and sustainable agricultural system and local food industry.
- Offers programs and services that foster innovation and entrepreneurship, and outreach to high schools.
- Assists with regulatory compliance.
- Strengthens producer collaboration networks.
- Prioritizes talent development and retention.
- Welcomes new Canadians and help them start businesses.
- Promoting talent attraction and retention.
Documents Required
- Please be prepared to provide the following documents as part of the application screening process upon request.
- Most recent annual report/audited financial statement (revenue, expense and balance sheet).
- Budget for the year the grant is requested.
- A complete list of board members, their positions and addresses.
- A one to two-page summary of the major programs and services your organization provides, the program recipients, program timeframe, plus any other information which you feel would support your application.
- Previously used marketing materials acknowledging receipt of the Region’ Economic Development Grant (for previous recipients only).
- If requesting more than $10,000, please provide a list of financial contributors, along with their annual contributions, who support your organization.
