The Auckland Council is inviting applications for its Regional Arts & Culture Grant Programme.
Aims
This grant aims to enter into multi-year funding relationships with organizations that:
- operate at the regional level
- are – or are capable of becoming – the 'cornerstones' of a thriving arts and culture sector in Auckland.
Priorities
They welcome grant applications that align to the following priorities:
- All Aucklanders can access and participate in arts and culture.
- Auckland values and invests in arts and culture.
- A network of vibrant arts and culture organizations and facilities.
- Arts and culture is intrinsic to Auckland's 'place-making'.
- Auckland celebrates a unique cultural identity.
- Auckland has a robust and flourishing creative economy.
How strategic organizations operate at a regional level?
- The majority of strategic organizations will have an existing relationship with council and be able to demonstrate a clear track record of achievement at this level.

They will also:
- have a 'sector infrastructure' role that supports other sector organizations in developing and connecting
- deliver the highest level of expertise, or the highest quality service or experience
- have an acknowledged strategic leadership and brokerage role within their sector
- have the capability and capacity to think, work and advocate strategically at the regional level
- deliver work programs and outcomes that have clear alignment to our strategic outcomes and priorities
- have robust strategic and business plans in place.
Type of grants available
Grants awarded through regional funds will include a mix of:
- 'one-off' and multi-year project grants for standalone initiatives
- strategic relationship funding.

Grants delivered through this program support the implementation of the goals and objectives:
- integrate arts and culture into our everyday lives, and
- create a culturally rich and creative Auckland.
Eligibility Criteria
Your group or organization is eligible for funding if it meets the criteria for regional funding, and does one or more of the following:
- represents specific art forms at the regional level
- fulfills a 'sector infrastructure' role for arts and culture in Auckland, like through strategic advocacy, capacity and capability building
- delivers programming to an Auckland-wide audience
- is an iwi or other Māori organisation, involved in arts and culture activity
- delivers arts and cultural experiences to underserved populations
- delivers arts and cultural experiences in non-traditional settings.
