The Community Relations Commission distributes funding through the Strengthening and Empowering Equitable Neighborhoods Grant Program for project ideas that will help build a stronger sense of community and align with its mission.
Grants are available for individuals, and neighborhood and community associations who propose a project that builds community and/or improves community relations. Project ideas themed around Worthington’s Vision Statements are of particular interest.
Role and Responsibilities
- Those that are awarded grant funds must:
- Use grant funds during the calendar year of award.
- Invite CRC members to events related to the award (e.g., ribbon cutting for neighborhood sign, community event, etc.)
- Sign and submit the Grant Agreement Form prior to receiving funds.
- Submit a Project Completion Report with photos and receipts for expenses supported by grant funds to the City of Worthington 30 days following completion of the project, but no later than six months after receipt of funds. Grantees may request a delay in disbursal of funds for project timeline.
- If applicable, attend a meeting of the CRC to report on how the funds were used to positively impact the community, or invite CRC members to experience how funds were used.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Grant Review Committee will consider the following eligible applicants:
- Residents of the Worthington School District who are working as:
- An individual or group.
- An organization or neighborhood association:
- If forming a new community organization or group, they are either building programs to benefit the Worthington community or supporting individual neighborhoods.
- Informal groups should provide information on how they are organized and plans for collaboration and sustainability of the project (when appropriate).
- Businesses are not eligible.
- Projects must:
- Impact and/or support a neighborhood, geographical area, specific population, or the community as a whole in a meaningful manner.
- Be on public property and landscape improvements to private property are ineligible.
- Not be for the benefit of or a marketing tool for a for-profit business.

Selection Criteria
- The Grant Selection Committee will consider project requests which meet as many of the following criteria as possible:
- Fostering or enhancing community
- Creating opportunities to volunteer and work together
- Bolstering partnerships within the community
- Demonstrating sustainability of project beyond initial launch.
