The Family Planning Association of Sri Lanka (FPA Sri Lanka) and The National Association for Sexual Education (RFSU) are seeking organisations and individuals who would be interested in spearheading a project addressing issues related to Climate Change and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).
The projects are funded by The National Association for Sexual Education (RFSU). The project aims to make a significant impact on the well-being of individuals by addressing the intricate relationship between climate change and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). They are particularly interested in projects that consider the vulnerabilities of various communities, ensuring inclusivity and responsiveness to diverse needs as a result of climate change.
Previous experience in the fields of climate change, gender, and SRHR will be beneficial.
Funding Information
- The total budget should not exceed LKR 2,000,000.
- The project should target either one, two or all of the outcomes provided above and the duration is from May 2024 to December 2024, supporting innovative initiatives led by dedicated organisations and individuals.
Expected Outcomes
- Elevated access to comprehensive Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services foster the well-being of communities, creating a symbolic relationship with climate action.
- Examples:
- Developing and implementing sustainable SRHR programmes in the face of climate change challenges.
- Implementing innovative solutions to enhance access to SRHR services in environmentally vulnerable regions.
- Promoting eco-friendly practices in SRHR initiatives to reduce environmental impact.
- Examples:
- Strengthened preparedness and response mechanisms contribute to a significant decline in SRH related risks linked to climate-related emergencies, fostering a more resilient and adaptive society.
- Examples:
- Establishing detailed plans specifically addressing SRH needs during climaterelated emergencies. These plans should include provisions for access to contraception, emergency obstetric care, STI prevention and treatment, and psychosocial support.
- Conducting training programmes for healthcare providers to equip them with the skills and knowledge necessary to address SRH issues effectively during emergencies. This includes training on providing SRH services in resource-limited settings, managing obstetric emergencies, and recognizing and responding to gender-based violence.
- Examples:
- The strategic information system on the intersection between climate change and SRH strengthened for profound comprehension of the vulnerability, impact, and resilience within the realms of population, health, and gender.
- Examples:
- Advocating for policies that integrate climate resilience and SRHR, considering the specific needs of different communities.
- Raising awareness about the impact of climate change on reproductive health and advocating for informed decision-making.
- Collaborating with local communities to understand and address the unique challenges they face in the context of climate change and SRHR.

Eligibility Criteria
- Organisations must be registered in Sri Lanka and are required to submit the following documents along with the proposal:
- Company registration
- Audits of last two financial years (2021 and 2022) with management letters
- Draft accounts for 2023
