The Center for Arab American Philanthropy (CAAP) is requesting proposals for Teen Grantmaking Initiative to support youth-serving projects focus on youth mental health & wellness, substance abuse & smoking/vaping/hookah prevention, and academic stress (as a result of COVID-19).

Eligible organizations in the Metro Detroit area are invited to apply for a youth program grant opportunity from CAAP’s Teen Grantmaking Initiative (TGI). The Teen Grantmaking Initiative (TGI) is the only Arab American youth philanthropy program in the country.

TGI was founded in 2011 to empower Arab American teens using philanthropy as a tool.  Members across the county develop strong leadership skills that they use throughout their lives.

TGI grants support youth-powered projects that tackle issues such as domestic violence and substance abuse prevention, environmental stewardship, and social justice. Through TGI, they are teaching high school students to change the world!

Focus Areas

Based on the results of the TGI youth needs assessment conducted at the end of 2020, TGI grantmaking in 2021 will focus on projects related to Academic Stress (as a result of COVID-19), Mental Health and Wellness, and lastly, Substance Use and Underage Smoking.

TGI is offering student groups and non-profit organizations in the Detroit metro area (including schools, and community groups with a 501(c)(3) non-profit status) the opportunity to apply for grants.
