Risk and Resilience Grants Program in Australia

Japanese Award for Most Innovative Development Project (MIDP) 2025

Deadline: 10-Aug-23

Up to $8 million in grant funding is now available for projects that reduce the risk and impact of natural disasters on Victorian communities and economies as part of the latest Risk and Resilience Grants Program.

Floodplain management authorities, municipal councils, volunteer groups, State government departments, other non-government emergency management organisations, small businesses and research institutions will be able to apply for grants of up to $250,000 as part of the program.

The grants program is funded under the National Partnership Agreement (NPA) on Disaster Risk Reduction and aims to reduce the risk and limit the impact of natural disasters in line with the National Disaster Risk Reduction Framework (External link).

Under the NPA, Victoria develops an Implementation Plan for approval by the Commonwealth Minister for Emergency Management and National Recovery and Resilience to receive funding for the Program. Emergency Management Victoria is responsible for administering the Program.

The NPA aims to reduce the risk and limit the impact of disasters associated with natural hazards on Australian communities and economies and will deliver on the priorities and goals of the National Disaster Risk Reduction Framework (the Framework).
