SDG Innovation Fund: Fostering Sustainable Development in the Republic of Moldova

Applications are now open for the SDG Innovation Fund Program to support the implementation of at least six cross-sectorial small-scale projects to foster the advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Republic of Moldova.

The SDG Innovation Fund is part of the project “Support to the Moldovan Government in the Implementation of the 2030 Agenda” (further referred as “Project”) that the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH implements on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The overall objective of the Project is to improve capacities and processes for implementing the 2030 Agenda in the Republic of Moldova. The Project works closely with its main political partner the State Chancellery of the Republic of Moldova and other stakeholders, relevant for implementing the 2030 Agenda.

How is the Fund managed?

A partnership (lead organization and partner organization) between at least two organizations from different stakeholder groups out of the following:

Eligibility Criteria

Proposal must meet the following requirements to be eligible for evaluation:

  1. Legal entity. Applicant is a public authority, civil society, private sector, academia from the Republic of Moldova.
  2. Sectorial focus: Proposals shall address challenges in one of the following sectors (i) Public Finances, (ii) Social Affairs, (iii) Environment.
  3. Multi-actor-partnership. Applications shall be submitted by a consortium of at least two different stakeholder groups (e.g. consortium between an NGO and public authority).
  4. Timeframe. The objective of the small-scale projects shall be achieved within the maximum duration of up to 12 months. The earliest a project can have a planned start is 01 July 2021 and the latest it can end is 30th June 2022.
  5. Budget. The required funding amount shall range between minimum EUR 50,000 to maximum EUR 70,000.
  6. Own contribution. The budget application form shall include an own financial contribution of at least 5% of the overall budget.
  7. Language. Proposals shall be submitted only in English language.
  8. Formalities. Applications shall be accurate, complete and timely submitted.
