The Seventh Generation Fund for Indigenous Peoples, Inc. is inviting proposals for its grant program.
Funding Information
Grant Award Range: Up to $50,000*
*International projects have a grant award range of up to $15,000
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants are Indigenous community-created projects and organizations that:
- Emerge from, and are led by, and grounded in, the Indigenous Peoples it serves and who are most impacted by the issues, methods, and outcomes.
- Nurture and center the culture, language, traditional knowledge systems, and healthy lifeways of the Indigenous Peoples involved in the project.
- Have 80% or more Indigenous Peoples in decision-making leadership as the Board or Directors or other decision-making entity, and have an Indigenous Executive Director, all Indigenous Directors, or Project leaders, and Indigenous Peoples engaged throughout all aspects of the organization. (Thriving Women mandates 80% or more Indigenous women-identified Board of Directors, and an Indigenous woman Executive Director, all Indigenous women Directors, or Project leaders.)
- Are a non-profit with 501(c)3 tax exempt status, or be a federally-recognized tribal nation project, or have a fiscal sponsor. If fiscally sponsored, the Seventh Generation Fund prioritizes applicants with Native or People of Color fiscal sponsoring organizations.
- Have a project budget of <$500,000. Seventh Generation Fund prioritizes community-based projects.
- Are in good standing with the Seventh Generation Fund without reports due or outstanding issues.
Organizations (or Projects) are eligible for one grant, per grant period. All applications must be submitted by Indigenous Peoples.
They are unable to support: Individuals, non-Native organizations, religious missionizing efforts, purchase of vehicles, heavy equipment, capital campaigns, or scholarship funds.
