Deadline: 20-Jul-21
The International Renaissance Foundation is seeking applications for its Small Grants Competition “Practical Solutions for the Environment” to support the development of ideas of local public organizations aimed at overcoming environmental problems in the territories of Donbas controlled by the Ukrainian government.
Studies of the state of the environment in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Donbass, in particular since the beginning of hostilities in eastern Ukraine, indicate a deepening of environmental degradation in this region due to significant man-made and anthropogenic pressure.
In order for the environmental issues of Donbass to be constantly present on the government and public agenda, the indifference and efforts of the local community are critical. Civil society institutions (CSOs), which work on environmental issues in the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts controlled by the government of Ukraine, are currently an important driver for solving the environmental problems of Donbass.
The purpose of the competition is to support the development of ideas of local public organizations aimed at overcoming environmental problems in the Ukrainian-controlled territories of Donbass.
The participants of the competition are civil society organizations registered in the territories of Luhansk and Donetsk regions controlled by the Government of Ukraine, which take care of the environmental protection of Donbass. Preference will be given to organizations that carry out a significant part of their activities aimed at environmental protection, at the level of small towns and local communities in these areas.
