UN Women has announced a call for proposals for small grants to strengthen the capacities of civil society organizations (CSOs) active in preventing and responding to violence against women and girls and in the economic empowerment of women in the Latin American region.
The purpose of this call is to support the institutional strengthening of organizations that work on prevention and/or provide containment, information and assistance services—including economic empowerment—to women, adolescents and girls in situations of violence and discrimination for reasons of genre.
Funding & Duration Information
Proposals of a minimum amount of USD 10,000 (ten thousand United States dollars) will be financed up to a maximum amount of USD. 20,000.00 (twenty thousand US dollars), for a period of 6 (six) months.
Eligible Activities
The applicant CSO can request the donation to develop the following activities:
- Implement or improve organizational systems, tools and data records aimed at addressing gender-based violence;
- Train your work team in technical, programmatic and management skills;
- Buy equipment such as computers, printers, notebooks, scanners, cell phones, etc. for its prevention and care work for women, adolescents and/or girls at the local level for the equivalent of up to 30% of the total allocated budget.
Eligibility Criteria
Civil society organizations (CSOs) that:
- The applicant is a registered CSO in operation for at least three years;
- The applicant has demonstrated and verifiable experience in prevention, assistance – including economic empowerment – and care for women, adolescents and girls in situations of vulnerability due to gender;
- The applicant operates in at least one Latin American country;
- The applicant is not listed on the United Nations Security Council Consolidated Sanctions List;
- The applicant is not being investigated for fraud, corruption, sexual abuse exploitation or other crime;
- The applicant has not received funding from UN Women and/or UNDP wholly or partially canceled by UN Women and/or UNDP;
- The applicant is not currently and was not hired under the “Counterpart Agreement” (PA) modality as of January 1, 2019 by UN Women and/or UNDP;
- Applicant is not a government entity, United Nations organization or established CSO with the capacity to engage as a Partner;
- Applicant has sufficient ability to collaborate with various stakeholders;
- The applicant has sufficient financial management, including adequate financial policies and procedures in place to administer the small grant.
