The Social Observatory of the ”la Caixa” Foundation is launching a call to support research projects in social sciences that study the social impact of longer lifespans through the conducting of a quantitative survey.
Objective
- One of the missions of the Social Observatory of the ”la Caixa” Foundation is to support research in the field of social sciences that can provide relevant knowledge to policy makers, professionals in the third social sector or communications professionals, among other social agents.
- The Social Observatory is therefore launching these Flash Calls to support new research on topics of special relevance to the current socioeconomic context.
- These Flash Calls of the Social Observatory of the ”la Caixa” Foundation aim to:
- Study society as a whole in addition to the social impacts of a given phenomenon.
- Provide funding to conduct original and innovative quantitative surveys in any of the disciplines pertaining to the social sciences.
- Ensure that the research projects based on these surveys can complete the entire journey from hypotheses to conclusions in a period of less than 12 months.
Topics and Scope
- This Flash Call invites proposals that analyse the social challenges related to the social impact of longer lifespans in Spain.
- Proposals studying any phenomenon related to the increase in longevity and the implications that this fact has on society as a whole, from any discipline of the social sciences, will be of interest.

What they offer?
- These Flash Calls offer funding to conduct social research based on quantitative surveys. The maximum funding for each project is Thirty-Five Thousand Euros (€35,000).
- This amount includes applicable taxes, as well as the indirect expenses and overheads of the Organisation.
Geographical Scope
- Original research on Spanish society.
- In order to fund projects with the greatest possible impact, the evaluation will prioritise proposals that refer to the whole of Spain over those that analyse a sub-state reality. Studies covering only small regions or specific municipalities are therefore less likely to be selected.
Who can apply?
- Proposals must be led and processed by people with a PhD degree carrying out their activities in organisations dedicated to research and based in Spain. These people are the Project Leaders.
- The Organisations submitting proposals may be universities, research centres or private nonprofit organisations, as well as private universities.
- The Organisation must be identified from the outset: submitting the proposal requires the approval of the Organisation Manager.
