The Sport Access Foundation is launching its inaugural grant to applicants who best demonstrate the desire to succeed in their chosen pursuit and where the financial and moral support from Sport Access Foundation would further their education or personal development.
Sport Access Foundation aims to facilitate and encourage children and teenagers living with a disability to participate in sport so they have the opportunity to excel and achieve their goals.
Benefits
As well as receiving a $2,000 grant successful recipients will also have access to:
- A mentor suited for the applicant or their parent. This might be in the form of a Paralympian or a specialist within the disability sports sector. The mentor will be available for once a month sessions over 12 months
- A Sport Access Foundation starter pack, which will include samples and products from our sponsors and supporters, as well as a welcome interview to provide guidance on goal setting and planning
- Becomes a Member of the Sport Access Foundation and will form part of a developing Alumni
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible applicant includes:
- Male or Female, 7 to 17 years in the same calendar year of the application and living with a physical or intellectual disability
- Applicants who have a stated desire to pursue their chosen field of sport and aspire to achieve excellence in their performance
- Be an Australian citizen or have been granted permanent resident status, residing in Australia
- Be participating as an athlete, coach, umpire or referee in:
- an official state championships endorsed by the relevant Australian Sports Commission (ASC) recognised national sporting organisation (NSO), or
- an official state school sport championship endorsed by a School Sport Australia member body
- an official state school sport championship endorsed by a School Sport Australia member body
- a national school sport championships endorsed by School Sport Australia
- an international competition as a member of an official Australian team, endorsed by an ASC recognised NSO or School Sport Australia
- If shortlisted for a grant, provide two references from any of coach, mentor, teacher or employer
- If shortlisted for a grant, provide a medical certificate verifying the physical or intellectual impairment
- Applicants who have demonstrated initiative and commitment to challenge themselves and achieve their goals
- Recipients will need to accept all T&Cs of the contract and application process
- T&C include conditions around expenditure of grant and proof of services or products acquired
- If shortlisted for a grant, participate in an interview – face to face or via video-con (skype)
