The Valley Water is seeking applications for its Standard Grants Program to help if you have a project idea that:
- Promotes water conservation
- Helps prevent pollution
- Restores wildlife habitat
- Increases access to trails and open space
- Helps clean up creeks
- Educates students or the public on any of the issues
What projects are eligible?
In this current round of funding, they have a total of up to $1.4 million in total with no minimum or maximum for projects that fit into the following categories:
- Water Conservation: The goal of this category is to identify devices, programs, and strategies that can help save water and promote conservation efforts. They're looking specifically – but not exclusively – at projects that research new and innovative water conservation programs and technologies.
- Pollution Prevention: This category looks to reduce contaminants in water. That could be through education, technical assistance, or other means.
- Volunteer Cleanup Efforts and Education: These grants are meant to assist with cleanup and watershed stewardship activities, as well as education and outreach about their watersheds.
- Wildlife Habitat Restoration: Does your project support, restore or conserve native plants and animals? There are a number of ways to go about this, from creating or enhancing wetlands to removing non-native, invasive plants to protecting threatened or endangered species.
- Access to trails and open space grants: Access to their natural environment is important. These projects provide and increase access to open space and creekside trails.
Eligibility Criteria
They are accepting applications from the following organization types and groups that work/provide services within Santa Clara County:
- Public agencies
- Schools
- Organized community groups
- Nonprofit organizations
- Museums
- Student and senior groups
- Community centers
- Special districts
- Organizations serving disadvantaged communities
- Faith-based organizations
- Scout troops
- Private companies (for water conservation grants only)
