The Department of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy (CHDE) is seeking applications for Stay Connected Fund that build connected communities, wellbeing and belonging and reduce social isolation and loneliness experienced by vulnerable people in Queensland.
The Stay Connected Fund targets organizations with ideas and initiatives that aim to help people connect and belong
The fund supports one-off projects that build connection between Queenslanders and reduce feelings of social isolation and loneliness.
Priorities
- Round 1 will fund service initiatives for women over 55 years of age who are experiencing social isolation and loneliness.
- Preference will be given to service initiatives that meet the needs of women over 55 who are experiencing social isolation or loneliness and who also identify as vulnerable. This does not exclude you from applying for funding to assist women over 55 who do not also identify as vulnerable.

For the purposes of Round 1, vulnerable people include:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples (First Nations peoples)
- Members of the LGBTIQ+ community
- Members of culturally and linguistically diverse communities
- People experiencing or at risk of homelessness
- People experiencing mental illness
- People exiting care or corrections
- People who have served in the Australian Defense Force (veterans)
- People living in rural, regional and remote Queensland.
Funding Information
- The total funding available under Round 1 is $2.5 million (GST exclusive).
- Proposals under Round 1 are limited to a maximum of $150,000 (GST exclusive). If the value of the proposal exceeds the amount you are seeking, you must demonstrate that you have additional funding support or in-kind contributions from sources other than funding received under Round 1 to support the proposal.
Eligible Funding

Eligible activities include:
- minor upgrades to existing facilities, such as kitchen renovations from which to deliver initiatives to women over 55
- vehicle leasing
- research consultant fees
- purchase of small equipment
- travel expenses when travel is required to deliver the initiative
- purchase of essential items needed to set up a home
- relocation and transport costs for individuals supported through the initiative
- salaries for support staff
- administration expenditure of up to 10 per cent of total initiative funding, including office expenses, marketing, human resource management.
Eligibility Criteria
- Organizations and individuals over 18 years of age with an active ABN are eligible to apply.
- Applicants must deliver the funded services in Queensland and connect services to the housing and support hub for older women.
- We encourage applications from organizations that establish partnerships with local businesses to deliver initiatives; however, corporate organizations are not eligible for funding.
