Strong Foundation for Environmental Values’ Small Competitive Grants – United States

Chicago Foundation for Women's Grant Program (US)

Deadline: 15-Sep-20

The Strong Foundation for Environmental Values is seeking applications for its Small Competitive Grants to educate, assist, nurture, and sustain local grassroots organizations that help to build an ethic of environmental stewardship in their communities.

Their focus is on projects located in California, specifically the geographic areas of Northern California, the Central Valley, and the Sierra Nevada, including the entire California-Oregon Klamath River watershed and the watersheds that arise in the Sierras and terminate in Nevada’s terminal lakes. Their definition of Northern California extends from the Oregon border south to and ending at the northern boundaries of the San Luis Obispo, Ventura, Los Angeles and San Bernardino county lines.

They award grants for environmental stewardship and conservation efforts. They seek projects with emphases on grassroots action, environmental education, capacity building, citizen participation, collaborative efforts, innovative programs, planning and training, and climate change. Climate change programs at the community level are eligible and encouraged for grant consideration.  Examples would be projects related to a changing climate, preparing for resilience, learning for adaptation, and promoting changes in lifestyle to reduce severity of climate change.
