The City of Kamloops is accepting submissions for the Climate Action Grant Program to enable residents, non-profit organizations, and charities to undertake community-based climate action focused projects.
Objectives
- Eligible applicants are encouraged to propose creative, equitable and community-driven projects that have the potential to advance one or more of the following objectives:
- Provides a direct benefit to the Kamloops community, urban environment, and/or ecosystem
- Supports the implementation of the Community Climate Action Plan
- Enhances community resilience to climate change and/or reduces greenhouse gas emissions
- Fosters neighbourhood pride and/or community wellness
- Respects the principles of equity and climate justice
Funding Information
- The program’s overall budget is $20,000. Approved projects will receive between $500 and $2,000 in funding.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible groups include registered non-profit societies, charities, community associations, youth groups, and school/parent associations.
- Organizations must be Kamloops based and adhere to not-for-profit policies and practices.
Ineligibility Criteria
- The following are ineligible for funding:
- Direct financial assistance to individuals or groups
- Project applications from for-profit groups, government agencies, institutions, or organizations with political affiliations
- Operating costs/salaries not directly linked to the awarded project
- Funding for alcohol, tobacco, or gambling expenses
- Expenditures incurred prior to receiving formal project approval.
