Deadline: 09-May-21
U.S. Mission to India is seeking applications for the U.S. Foreign Policy and U.S.-India Relations Program.
Relations between the United States and India have grown in leaps and bounds in recent years, becoming what one U.S. President called a “defining partnership for the 21st century.” India does more trade, more military exercises, and sends more students to universities in the United States than any other country in the world. Yet, the study of the United States remains comparatively underdeveloped in Indian universities and think tanks. The Embassy is aware of only scattered courses on various aspects of U.S. culture and history, but few dedicated departments of American Studies or courses on U.S.-India relations.
Project Goal: To strengthen the bilateral relationship by promoting awareness of U.S. foreign policy and U.S.-India ties, and to generate academic and institutional interest in American Studies in India.
Objectives
- To create a Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) on U.S. foreign policy and U.S.-India ties, in consultation with a council of at least one faculty advisor from the seven states and territories of north India.
- To select and administer the course to at least 100 university students across north India, including a final essay on U.S.-India ties.
- To establish an online platform or website dedicated to American Studies, U.S. foreign policy, and U S -India ties, which would be maintained by the grantee for at least two years.
- To organize an in-person conference with participating academics and relevant speakers to discuss U.S. foreign policy and U.S. – India ties and to present papers at the end of the course by the top two participants from each state.
