The City of Canning has launched a call for proposals for the Can-Do Grants Program to supports a wide range of activities wanted by the Canning community.
The Can-Do grants support a wide range of activities wanted and needed by the Canning community (including but not limited to):
- varied and accessible community events, services and facilities
- flourishing art and culture
- aboriginal culture is respected
- diverse cultures and beliefs are respected
- high levels of participation in community groups, clubs, and organizations
- community groups with the capacity to meet members needs and grow as needed
- collaboration and partnerships make better use of limited resources and facilities
- clean and safe public spaces
- improved health and wellbeing
- an environmentally aware, motivated and well-informed community.

- The maximum grant available for Can-Do Grants: $5,000
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible for Can-Do Grants, applicants must reside, be located, and/or operate in the City of Canning. (Not-for-profit organizations, excluding sporting clubs, which have offices outside Canning but deliver services to Canning residents may apply). All applicants must be able to demonstrate the benefit to the Canning community. The following are eligible for the outlined grant levels:
- Incorporated Not-for-Profit organizations.
- Government and Not-for-Profit kindergartens, primary and secondary schools.
- Businesses are eligible to apply to the Resilience grant only. Eligible businesses will have a maximum of 20 employees; be fully operational, and be located within the City of Canning. (Applications from Canning residents with a business operating in another Local Government Area will not be accepted.)
- Non-incorporated groups are eligible to apply to the Resilience grant only
- Eligible items for support include:
- Purchase of equipment available for ongoing use by the Canning community.
- Fees for professional services hired for the activity (e.g. workshop presenters, contractors/casuals working only on the specific activity proposed).
- Costs specific to the activity (e.g. venue hire).
- Project administration costs (e.g. postage), and
- Advertising, promotional supplies (e.g. signage, flyers, advertising).
Assessment Criteria
Your application will be assessed against how well it meets all of the following criteria:
- Community need.
- Planning and management.
- Value for money, and
- Ability to assist in delivering the Strategic Community Plan.
