Deadline: 12-Sep-22
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is accepting proposals for Assessing the vulnerability and capacity of local communities to their resilience to natural hazards caused by climate change in 27 target districts of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
A joint UNDP, MES and Uzhydromet project funded by the Green Climate Fund aims to ensure the modernization of the CFSR (with an initial focus on floods, mudflows, landslides, avalanches and hydrological drought in the more densely populated and economically important eastern mountainous regions of the Ferghana Valley) – an important element of the climate management system risks in the country. Considering the growth of climate risks, this system will help to increase the climate resilience of the population of Uzbekistan, including the most vulnerable and poor rural communities living in mountainous areas, which are currently at risk of natural hazards caused by climate change.
Also, the overall goal of the joint project of UNDP and Uzhydromet, funded by the European Union “Climate Change and Sustainable Development in Central Asia” is to assist in ensuring stability and developing climateresilient development models in the Ferghana Valley – the transboundary zone of the Republics of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
